Cypress Ski Report for Saturday January 3, 2015

Well, it’s been an up and down time off the mountain for the past month, but for the most part things look to be improving just as I’m getting back at it!

To backtrack… I sprained my ankle pretty severely back in the first week of December, and got just one session before setting off for Maui for a family vacation, then upon returning  delved straight into Christmas festivities which continued straight up until last week.

All in all, looks like I timed things really well since I haven’t really missed any major developments on the mountain during my time away.

That all said, Cypress gave Silver passholders a 60% discount on tickets this weekend, so we decided to get a quick afternoon session in before sending the kiddos back to school.

We arrived for the afternoon session to expectedly long line ups, but all in all wasn’t too bad. Lions had pretty short lift lines, but since Collins was the only terrain open on that side, the run was absolutely clogged with wall to wall people. Eagle side of things had slightly longer lineups, but the runs we’re comparably quiet, and the snow quality much, much better seeing as that side has all the good snowmaking equipment.

While we’re still well below seasonal averages, it’s very nice to see the mountains starting to take shape.

Overall, pretty stoked to get out there again and be sure to keep in touch as the season continues to develop… I’m back at it!

The upcoming forecast is again looking pretty touch and go, but once we push through this warm patch over the next couple days,  I’m getting the feeling that we’re finally setting into a more typical winter weather pattern… Fingers crossed!
